I guess i'll add my little bit, being that I have "Denver" in my address... First off, dropping IDM on the dancefloors of Denver isn't likely for awhile. People here still don't understand the concept of "electronic listening music"(That's where I come in, as an underground journalist/writer.) Once more experimental cuts start getting more playtime & people start taking their heads out of their asses, and more reviews are written, then we'll have a little scene for IDM, and Gil will be happier. This isn't far off, folks. But, how many others on the list DON'T have a decent IDM scene in their area? Many. I bet some of us can't even get the (Artificial Intelligence) compilation, because of a lack of facilities... People, this stuff is still experimenta(sp ?), in its various forms, and it will take awhile for a following. I, personally, don't want it to be a big scene, I like it the way it is. So Autechre, Plaid, Black Dog & others don't come out here, so what! We buy their albums, they continue to make beautiful music to entertain us, either at home, or at "small gatherings @ coffee houses, etc. We're not talking worldwide popularity/notariety with IDM artists, as compared to the likes of Wu-Tang Clan, or Mariah Carey, ya know! But, the artists are doing their part by producing good trax, and we return the favor by buying the album. 'nuff said? I doubt it. Secondly, DJ'ng is an artform, as someone else mentioned. There are NO set parameters or requirements. You just have to have a deep love for your art, and doing what you like. No matter how abstract. Fuck everyone else if they don't like your "art"! So, just disregard this "what makes a good dj" shit! Just Do It!(tm) btw, flames will go "unanswered!" Derek Jordan
